They are made of a cotton/polyester blend ribbing material for stretchy-ness. Newborn heads come in different sizes - I have four sizes: X-Small/Preemie, Small Newborn, Larger Newborn, X-Large Newborn and XX-Large Newborn. They have a decorative button on the very top.
